Last week, CHPD School Resource Officer Cpl. Brandon Lyons attended and completed an Advanced SRO Course in Georgetown, Kentucky.
Course work included school case law updates, mental health, best practices for de-escalation, behavioral threat assessment, emergency operations planning, and armed assailant response.
Also included was an introduction to CPTED (Crime Prevention through Environmental Design) that uses design, management, and activity strategies to reduce opportunities for crime to occur, reduce fear, and improve the overall safety of schools.
