Report Copy Services
Charlestown Police Department report copies (including Crash / Accident Reports) can be obtained Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (excluding holidays); at the CHPD headquarters, located at 703 Main Street, Charlestown, IN. There is a $5.00 charge for all report services.
Availability of police reports is based on the current case status; as copies of active case reports can not be released by the Records Division. The Department suggests contacting the Charlestown Police Department Records Division in advance; to determine if the desired report is available, before making a trip to the department. The Records Division can be contacted during regular business hours, excluding holidays, at 812-256-7136 or via email at ONLINE@ctownpd.com.
Indiana Crash (Accident) Reports can also be purchased on-line by using www.BuyCrash.com.
Notice: If you are involved in a motor vehicle crash (accident), all drivers are required by Indiana State Law to submit a completed Indiana Operator’s Proof of Insurance/Crash Report (SR-21 form) to the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, within ten (10) days of the crash. Contact your insurance agent for assistance in ensuring the proper reporting is completed after a motor vehicle crash; failure can result in a suspension of driving privileges.
Requesting Archived Digital Photos or Images and Mobile or Body Worn Videos (BWC)
During the normal course of investigating criminal cases and traffic crashes, agency personnel routinely compiles collections of digital photos (images) and mobile video which document certain situations, evidence, and characteristics connected to their investigation and or call for service. A digital copy of the before mentioned archived photos, images or video may be available; depending on the status of a criminal investigation. For purposes of clarity and precision, all requests for digital copies of archived digital photos/images and/or mobile/BWC video must be made using the following prescribed REQUEST FORM, hand delivered or mailed to CHPD Records, 703 Main Street, Charlestown, IN 47111; or sent via email to online@ctownpd.com. Only complete and legible forms will be processed.

Local Record Checks
Local Records Checks can be can be obtained Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (excluding holidays); at the CHPD headquarters, located at 703 Main Street, Charlestown, IN. There is a $5.00 charge for all report services, and valid photo identification is required to obtain a Local Records Check.
Note: Indiana Criminal History Records Checks must be obtained through the Indiana State Police, and can not be obtained from local police agencies. For more information on obtaining Criminal History Records, go to http://www.in.gov/ai/appfiles/isp-lch/
Vehicle Police Inspections
Vehicle Police Inspections can be can be obtained Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (excluding holidays); at the CHPD headquarters, located at 703 Main Street, Charlestown, IN. There is a $5.00 charge for all report services, and the vehicles Bill of Sale is required to obtain a Vehicle Police Inspection. Download and print an Indiana BMV Vehicle Inspection Form, if needed.
