NWS: Winter Storm Update for Snow Accumulation, Strong Winds, Dangerous Cold

The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER STORM WARNING for snow accumulations and dangerous wins chills Thursday evening through Friday (December 22nd & 23rd). Rain will proceed the winter weather on Thursday, with an expected transition from rain to snow at approximately 7:00 pm. Plan for roads to become slippery and hazardous by early Friday morning. It is currently estimated that we will receive 2-4″ inches of snow Thursday night, with wind gusts as high as 45 mph. Temperatures will rapidly drop Thursday evening and create wind chills as low as 25 degrees below zero. The cold weather will last through Christmas.

KEEP AN EYE ON ELDERLY LIVING ALONE, DON’T LEAVE PETS OUTSIDE, PREPARE FOR SEVERAL DAYS OF BITTER COLD TEMPERATURES; BUT HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS!

From the City of Charlestown: Reminder, the Charlestown Arts & Enrichment Center (999 Water Street) will open as an emergency shelter if needed (Please contact 502-523-3650 to open the A&E).
