Charlestown Man Charged After Stabbing Incident

Clark County Emergency Communications recieved 911 calls, at approximately 4:57 pm, Friday, February 16th, 2024; regarding an unknown male attempting to force his way into an occupied second floor apartment, located in the 700 block of Main Street, in Charlestown. Callers also reported a male that had been stabbed in the neck/facial area at the same location; giving a detailed description of an unknown male assailant. First Responders arrived on scene to find a 23 year old male resident of the apartment complex stabbed by unknown male suspect, who had fled the scene on foot. The 23 year old male was transported by EMS to University of Louisville Hospital, in Louisville; while CHPD officers secured the scene. Twenty minutes later, officers located a male matching the assailant description, on foot one block away from the scene. The 27 year old male suspect, also a resident of the same apartment complex; was detained and transported to the Charlestown Police Department for questioning. During the course of the investigation, Ryan Edward Fox, 27, of Charlestown; was arrested by CHPD Detective Major Jason Broady, and charged preliminarily with Level 1 Felonies Attempted Murder and Burglary, causing serious bodily injury; Level 2 Felony Burglary with a Deadly Weapon; Level 3 Felony Aggravated Battery; Level 5 Battery; and Criminal Recklessness, a Level 6 Felony. Fox was transported to the Clark County Jail for incarceration; a short time later. The 23 year old victim, at last report, is in stable condition after surgery at UofL Hospital. The Charlestown Police Department appreciates the assistance of deputies of the Clark County Sheriff’s Department during this incident. The Charlestown Police Department Criminal Investigations Division continues to investigate details of this incident, and evaluation of evidence collected. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
