Clark County is now under a Winter Storm WARNING in effect until 7:00 pm Thursday evening.
Sleet and freezing rain is entering the area, already resulting in two traffic accidents in the Charlestown area. Roads are slick and hazardous in spots, no matter how much road crews treat them as the storm is in progress.
If you have to be out on the roads, use extreme caution, decrease vehicle speeds and increase following distance.
PER CITY OF CHARLESTOWN:
EMERGENCY SHELTER: In the event of a weather event creating a major power outage in the Charlestown area, the Arts and Enrichment Center at 999 Water Street will open as a generator-powered emergency shelter. Capacity may be limited due to COVID-19 restrictions and for this reason the elderly, medically compromised, and those with babies and small children will be prioritized if space limitations become a factor. We will make every effort to accommodate anyone in need of assistance or find an alternative location if necessary. Please remember to bring a mask.
