Monday, September 3rd, at approximately 4:20 p.m.; Officers from the Charlestown Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery call from the Sunoco Fuel Mart located in the 100 block of Market St., in Charlestown. CHPD Officers met with the owner of the store who informed police that a masked male had entered the store and displayed what he believed to be a handgun while demanding both cash and merchandise in the store, before fleeing on foot towards High Street. Officers initially canvassed the area with the assistance with a K-9 unit from the Jeffersonville Police Department; in an attempt to locate the suspect, but were unsuccessful.
CHPD Detectives and CHPD School Resource Officer Adam Clark began developing a list of potential suspects which led them to interviewing a 14 year old male, who lived in the area, west of the Sunoco Fuel Mart. CHPD Detectives Jason Broady and Chuck Ledbetter located substantial evidence and developed enough probable cause to arrest the 14 year old; whose name is being withheld due to being a juvenile offender; before being transported to the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center on armed robbery related charges.
