INFORMATION FOR CHARLESTOWN, INDIANA RESIDENTS:

Charlestown is one of very few communities within Clark County, Indiana which have civil defense sirens which are also used during Tornado WarningsIn the event a Tornado Warning is issued (by the National Weather Service office in Louisville, Kentucky) for Clark County (IN); or there is immediate sufficient evidence of a tornado in the immediate vicinity of the City of Charlestown, the Tornado Alert Sirens are activated by either the Charlestown Police Department or Clark County 911 Dispatch.  The tornado alert is indicated by one continuous blast, of all three (3) city sirens, for a continuous three (3) minute period of time.  Upon hearing the tornado alert, citizens should TAKE COVER IMMEDIATELY and assume that a tornado or weather capable of producing a tornado at any time, is in the vicinity of Charlestown and/or Clark County.
