(812) 256-6345 (non-emergency) then "0" for a Dispatcher
Dial 911 for Emergencies
The Charlestown Police Department has undergone a year of Communications remodeling. The remodel project, originally initiated by then Chief of Police Kevin Fischer; has involved the movement of the Communications Equipment into a larger area, as well as the addition of a closed circuit security camera system, intercoms, emergency battery and generator power back-ups, and a department link to the National Crime and Information Computer, via the Indiana Data and Communications System. Most of the remodel has been made possible by the generous donations of local businesses, including $18,000.00 from D.A., Inc., of Charlestown. The above picture shows off a glimpse of the currently remodeled Communications Room. Dispatcher Jeff Shepherd, shown above, receives information on a citizen complaint prior to dispatching an available officer. Charlestown Police Dispatchers are among the highest paid in the area.
