The Charlestown Police Department is hosting a Sky Warn Spotter training seminar, OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, on evening of Tuesday, April 4th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The seminar is FREE, with no obligations, and will be held in the conference room of the Wilson Education Center, located at 2101 Grace Avenue, in Charlestown (next to the Cobblestone Hotel off IN 62). Meteorologists from Louisville’s Regional National Weather Service office will be present to teach those in attendance how to spot all types of severe weather common in the Ohio Valley; especially Thunderstorm and Tornado activity. Those in attendance can also elect to become one of the nation’s 290,000 certified spotters. Since the 1970’s, the National Weather Service has used weather spotters to obtain critical weather information; providing trained visual information in conjunction with radar technology to help warn the public of hazardous weather conditions. Whether you want to become a certified Skywarn Spotter or not, these seminars provide excellent information that can keep families safe from Tornadoes and other forms of severe weather.
