Charlestown Police Training Unit / Pepper Mace

On an bi-annual basis, the Charlestown Police Training Unit, trains and re-certifies full time and reserve officers in the use and recovery of O.C. Pepper Mace Spray.  Every Department officer is required to be sprayed with the same O.C. Pepper Spray they will be authorized to carry in the field as part of the initial certification process.  Experiencing the effects of pepper mace brings a better understanding of it's use in the field, the following pictures are of officers immediately following being sprayed with O.C. Pepper Mace, including having to "wrestle" with someone who hasn't been maced, and recovery procedures.  The following photos were taken during one of the 2003 Department Pepper Mace Training classes.
