K9 Bruno - assigned to Major Ed McDonald
(1994 - 2004)
Bruno was a 10 year old German Shepherd, imported from Czechoslovakia and certified in Police Utility Patrol Work. Bruno performed many searches and was responsible for many arrests; as well as many public community policing engagements. Bruno retired with his handler, 31 year Department veteran Major Ed McDonald, in June of 2003. Bruno retired with one of the Department's longest K9 service career's and known area-wide for his tracking ability. Bruno's life ended on August 18th, 2004 after an approximate 6 month bout with leg cancer. The Charlestown Police Department is proud of and honored by Bruno's accomplishments, loyalty to law enforcement, and dedicate this page to his memory. Thanks Bruno.
