FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Charlestown Police Department responded to
127 Woodridge Drive
, in
Charlestown
, when an ambulance was
dispatched for an infant not breathing. Upon
arrival, approximately one-minute later, emergency personnel found ten-month-old
Alexander Lee Raisor deceased in his bedroom crib.
Detective Don Wolfe, of the Charlestown Police Department, immediately
began an investigation into the infant’s death resulting in the early Sunday
morning arrest of 22 year old Jeremy Alan Stewart for the murder of Alexander.
Stewart, the live-in boy friend of Alexander’s 21 year old mother
Deloris Raisor, was home alone with Alexander and summoned
EMS
at approximately
10:09 am
Thursday morning
reporting that Alexander was not breathing.
An autopsy performed Friday, ruled that Alexander’s death was a
homicide and the result of “multiple inflicted blunt force and asphyxiation
injuries.” Stewart subsequently
confessed to Detective Wolfe during interviews that he caused the injuries upon
Alexander because he would not stop crying.
Stewart was arrested and charged with the murder of infant Alexander Lee
Raisor then transported to the Clark County Jail for Clark Circuit Court
arraignment this week. The
investigation continues into additional specific details surrounding the
incident, which have to be withheld at this time.
