FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Two
Charlestown
men were arrested on
multiple Felony charges, stemming from separate weekend incidents, following
Charlestown Police K9 apprehensions. The
first arrest and apprehension occurred while K9 Sgt. Keith McDonald performed a
non-related routine traffic stop on
Market Street
, Friday evening March
21st. During the traffic
stop, a juvenile male, driving a pick-up truck, drove up requesting police help
from Sgt. McDonald. An adult male,
identified as 18 year old Hagan Ray Jenks, had jumped into the rear bed of the
juvenile’s truck during an altercation between the two which had just begun
several blocks north of the traffic stop. Jenks
ignored police commands to stop when running toward the juvenile and threatening
to take the juvenile’s life. Jenks
was apprehended by Sgt. McDonald’s K9 within seconds, avoiding injury to the
juvenile. Jenks was charged with two
counts of Intimidation, Resisting Law Enforcement and Disorderly Conduct.
The second arrest came during the early morning hours of Saturday, March
22nd, when Charlestown Police Captain Jeff Stoner found evidence of a
burglary at the Movies To Go business on
Market Street
.
Captain Stoner requested a K9 Officer after finding a window broken out
at the business. Officer Devin Bizer
and his K9 responded and conducted an interior search of the business, finding
24 year old Johnny B. Keith hiding inside. Officer
Bizer’s K9 apprehended Keith, who had recently been released from prison on a
burglary conviction, after he refused officer’s orders to emerge from
underneath a desk inside the business and show his hands.
Evidence of a burglary in progress, including tools and bags of business
merchandise were confiscated during the arrest.
Keith was charged with Burglary and is scheduled for arraignment in Clark
Superior #1 Monday (today).
