NEWS RELEASE
DECEMBER 28, 2001 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Charlestown Police Department is looking for a black male, approximately 5’-7" tall and 160 pounds, clean shaven, driving a white full sized pick-up truck, possibly Ford or Chevy, and having a trailer hitch. The truck is believed to have an Indiana license plate and an older model and style. The driver of this vehicle is being sought by Charlestown Police in connection with two recent incidents the department is investigating. At approximately 11:00 p.m. on December 23rd, 2001, a subject matching the above description displayed a handgun inside the new Casey’s General Store, on Market Street, and is believed to have been planning an armed robbery. Fortunately store clerks were able to scare the suspect off by relaying that police had already been called and in route. Police believe the suspect fled the area in the above described vehicle seconds before police arrival. At approximately 9:20 p.m. on December 27, 2001, police believe the same suspect, driving the same vehicle, confronted a woman in front of her home in the 1100 block of Main Street, in Charlestown, demanding her purse then forcing it from her after threatening to kill her. The suspect fled the scene, in the above-described truck, westbound on Main Street. Police have been unable to locate the vehicle or suspect and request any information anyone might be able to provide. Information regarding these incidents can be forwarded to the Charlestown Police Department at (812) 256-6345, or via the On-Line Crime Reporting page of the department web site at www.ctownpd.com.

DECEMBER 31, 2001 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Charlestown Police Department arrested and charged Christopher R. Ingram (30), of Charlestown, for the December 23rd, 2001, attempted armed robbery of the Charlestown Casey’s General convenience store; and the December 27th, 2001, strong arm robbery of a Charlestown woman in the 1100 block of Main Street, in Charlestown. The arrest occurred on December 29th, after Charlestown Police Detective Don Wolfe located the suspect vehicle abandoned and subsequently obtained enough probable cause for the issuance of two search warrants, one for the vehicle and the second for the vehicle owner’s residence (Ingram). Detective Wolfe, assisted by Charlestown K9 Officer Keith McDonald, also compiled a suspect photo line up which resulted in successful identification of Ingram by witnesses and victims of both robbery investigations. Ingram is currently incarcerated at the Clark County Jail and is also wanted in Tennessee for aggravated-armed robbery parole violations.
