The Charlestown Police Department received an employee theft complaint from the B&T Rexall Pharmacy, in Charlestown, yesterday afternoon (May 3, 2001 at approximately 6:49 p.m.). Upon arrival, Officer Don Wolfe and Sgt. Jeff Stoner took a store employee into custody after their investigation revealed that the employee had removed a domestic item from the store without proper payment. Amy Joyce Jefferson (20), of Charlestown, was charged with Theft (Class D Felony), and subsequently consented to a search of her automobile which led officers to additional store items, including empty pharmacy drug containers. A Search Warrant for Jefferson’s Charlestown residence was obtained and executed by Charlestown officers, providing more evidence which resulted in the additional charges of Felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of a Narcotic drug and violation of the Legend Drug Act. Jefferson is scheduled to be arraigned in Clark Superior Court Tuesday, on all four charges.
